As the PMP exam change date is approaching, the excitement/nervousness among aspiring PMP professionals is quite evidently seen, few questions popping around are,

1. Is the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) guide changing?

2. What is the new ECO (Examination Content Outline)?

3. Is the exam going to be more difficult?

4. Do I need to undergo fresh 35 contacts hours of training based on this new ECO release?

Friends, PMBOK guide 6th edition is not changing post 2nd of January 2021, at least as of now there is no confirmed date from PMI on the release of 7th edition of PMBOK guide, what’s changing and that is confirmed is the Examination content outline (ECO). The PMI exams are directly mapped to these ECO tasks. We have 35 tasks in this new PMP ECO release which are mapped to three Project Management Domains which are People (14 tasks), Process (17 tasks), and Business environment (4 tasks).

I highly recommend referring to the ECO document which was released in May 2020 to prepare for PMP 2021 exam. You can download the same from the below-given link.

No, the exam is not going to be difficult for any professional who has project management experience, understands the enablers of each of these 35 tasks, and refers to the PMBOK guide 6th edition with other reference resources available.

No, you don’t have to undergo any fresh training to qualify for the PMP 2021 exam. Your existing training 35 contact hours certificate will be relevant to apply for the new exam as well. I must recommend getting in touch with your trainer to help you align with new ECO patterns so you can easily clear the PMP certification exam.
